Corrections Policy

If you believe UKBullet.uk has published a significant factual error, we want to know. This page explains our commitment to correcting mistakes promptly and transparently, and how you can report an error to our team.

What does this policy mean for you?

When UKBullet.uk makes a material mistake in a news article, analysis, explainer or opinion piece, we will correct it openly and without delay. Our readers trust us to get the facts right, and when we fall short, we take responsibility by updating the article and adding a clear correction note. This policy applies to all content published by Valletta Wharf Media Limited, the Maltese-registered company (company number C 85603) that operates UKBullet.uk.

We distinguish between minor errors — such as a typographical slip that does not affect meaning — and material errors that could mislead a reader about a significant fact, event, statistic, quote or attribution. Only material errors trigger a formal correction note and article update. Minor errors are fixed silently during routine editing.

How do I report an error?

Please email our dedicated corrections desk at corrections@ukbullet.uk. To help us investigate quickly, include the full URL of the article, the specific error you have identified, and the correct information with a source or evidence where possible. You may also use the general contact address info@ukbullet.uk, but the corrections inbox is monitored directly by our standards team.

If you prefer to submit a tip confidentially, you can use our Tip Us page. For complaints that go beyond a single factual error — such as concerns about editorial bias, privacy or legal issues — please see our Complaints Procedure.

What happens after I report an error?

Your report is reviewed by the Standards & Fact-Checking team, led by Martin Hale, our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead (martin.hale@ukbullet.uk). Martin and his team assess the claim against the original source material, interview notes and any supporting evidence you have provided. You will receive an acknowledgement of your report within five working days.

If the error is confirmed as material, the article is updated with the correct information, and a correction note is appended at the bottom of the page. This note states the date of correction, what was originally published, what has been changed, and why. The article’s URL and publication date remain unchanged, but a visible “Corrected on [date]” label is added near the headline.

For serious or systemic errors — for example, a story that is fundamentally inaccurate or based on fabricated sources — the matter is escalated to our Editor-in-Chief, Eleanor Price (eleanor.price@ukbullet.uk). Eleanor makes the final decision on whether to issue a retraction, publish a full correction article, or take other remedial action. In such cases, we will also update our Editorial Policy and Fact-Checking Policy to reflect any lessons learned.

How this works in practice

Imagine we published an article stating that the Bank of England had raised interest rates to 5.5% on a specific date, but the correct figure was 5.25%. A reader emails corrections@ukbullet.uk with a link to the Bank’s official press release. Martin Hale’s team verifies the error within two days. The article is updated to show 5.25%, and a correction note is added: “Correction [date]: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that the Bank of England raised interest rates to 5.5% on [date]. The correct figure is 5.25%. We regret the error.” The reader who reported it receives a brief email confirming the correction has been made.

Who oversees corrections at UKBullet.uk?

Martin Hale, Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, is responsible for the day-to-day handling of correction requests. He reports to Eleanor Price, Editor-in-Chief, who has ultimate authority over editorial standards and publication decisions. Our full editorial team is listed on the Our Team page. The corrections process is independent of commercial or advertising interests — our Ownership & Funding page explains how UKBullet.uk is financed, and our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure confirms that commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions.

We also maintain a public log of significant corrections, which is available on request by emailing corrections@ukbullet.uk. This log includes the date, article title, nature of the error and the correction applied.

In short

UKBullet.uk is committed to correcting material errors promptly and transparently. If you spot a mistake, email corrections@ukbullet.uk with the details, and our standards team will review it within five working days. Every confirmed material error results in an article update and a dated correction note, with serious issues escalated to the Editor-in-Chief.
