What do our reviews cover and how are they sourced?
Reviews may be based on advance screenings, pre-release streams, review copies, public releases, press access, or other legitimate means of evaluation. We clearly state the basis of the review where relevant — for example, “UKBullet.uk attended a press screening” or “the publisher provided a review copy.”
When we receive press access or complimentary copies, this is disclosed in the review itself using a standard format. The disclosure appears at the beginning or end of the article and includes a link to our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure and our Sponsored Content Policy, so readers can see how that review relates to our broader commercial practices. No review is influenced by the provision of access or samples.
How this works in practice
Consider a hypothetical review of a new novel. UKBullet.uk receives an advance reading copy from the publisher. The reviewer, Freya Bishop (Culture & Features Editor), reads the book and writes an honest appraisal. She notes in the review: “A review copy was provided by the publisher; this did not affect our editorial assessment.” The article includes an affiliate link to a bookstore — if a reader buys the book through that link, UKBullet.uk may earn a small commission. That link is labelled as an affiliate link, and the review is not written to favour that particular retailer. The publisher has no say in the review’s content, star rating, or publication timing.
